Leadership Program

Please note, if you are running for a House Committee role you MUST have acquired at minimum of 8 leadership points when applications close.

Overview

The Leadership Program must be completed by all students who wish to apply for 2026 roles as:

  • House Committee Leaders (elected position)
  • Pastoral Care Leaders (appointed position)
  • Student Mentors (appointed position)

The Leadership Program is designed to equip students with the skills they need to lead while also allowing them to demonstrate that they have the commitment and organisation required to be a leader in College. It should be remembered that being a leader is not a light undertaking.

In order to fulfill the requirements of the Leadership Program, students need to complete a number of Leadership activities conducted throughout the year. A range of targeted activities are offered to students in order for them to accumulate Leadership training points. Once the requisite number of points have been accumulated (8 minimum), students are then eligible to run for a House Committee position or apply for a Pastoral Care Leader or Student Mentor role for the following year. Students must accumulate a minimum of 8 points but are strongly encouraged to attend as many sessions as possible to gain a greater understanding of what it means to be a leader.

To check your leadership points, please contact student.life.assistant@standrewscollege.edu.au.

Criteria for 1st Year Students

First year students who would like to be considered for a 2026 student leader role (House Committee, Pastoral Care Leader or Student Mentor) will need to have fulfilled all requirements of the 2025 compulsory Community Living program.

In addition, first-year students will also need to participate in the Leadership Program and obtain a minimum of 8 leadership points to be eligible for a 2026 leadership position.

If you are unsure if you have completed the Community Living program requirements please contact student.life.assistant@standrewscollege.edu.au.

Criteria for 2nd Year and Above Students

As students 2nd year and above have already completed the compulsory Community Living modules in 2024 or earlier, you will only need to obtain a minimum of 8 leadership points to be eligible for a 2026 leadership position.

Leadership Program Activities

Additional activities and events may be added to the Leadership Program for Semester 2.  We ask that you check regularly for updates.   All leadership point opportunities will conclude in October. Please make sure you accrue your leadership points throughout the year, to avoid scrambling for points at the last minute if you change your mind about applying for a leadership position. Criteria reminder: First year students – must complete the Compulsory Community Living Program as well as obtaining a minimum of 8 Leadership Program points. 2nd year and above students – only need to acquire a minimum of 8 Leadership Program points. Attendance at the majority of sessions will be recorded in person. If your attendance is not recorded (full name) you will NOT be eligible to receive leadership points for session attendance.
